Turin, here’s Roberto D'Aversa: there’s a major challenge right away

Roberto D’Aversa will be the new coach of Torino: the coach from Abruzzo has officially taken the place of Marco Baroni, who was exonerated after a series of negative results, culminating with the 3-0 defeat at home to Genoa, that have brought the granata to a modest +3 over the relegation zone, with still twelve games to play between now and the end of the championship. The exoneration of Marco Baroni is the first, at Torino, since the 2020-2021 season, when Marco Giampaolo was exonerated after eighteen league matches and replaced by Davide Nicola. In that year the granata finished just a step above the relegation zone: 37 total points, less than one per game but still four more than Benevento, which finished third’last paying for a nightmarish end to the season. D’Aversa&#8217s task will be no different: Toro will need to avoid bitter surprises and confirm for the 14th consecutive year in the top flight.

He had been stationary since the end of last season, which ended with Empoli’s relegation.
