Fiorentina, Kean is enough: Pisa beaten in derby-salvation

A goal by Moise Kean in the early stages of the match was enough for Fiorentina to beat Pisa in the Tuscan derby and allow the violets to hook Cremonese and Lecce on 24 points. A fundamental success for Paolo Vanoli’s team, the third consecutive one between the league and the Conference League, which allows them to look optimistically at the upcoming league matches, starting with next Monday’s one in Udine. For Pisa, still last with just 15 points in cohabitation with Hellas Verona, it is late night.

The resumption opened with three changes for Pisa: Meister, Aebischer and Durosinmi took over from Iling Junior, Stojilkovic and Loyola. However, it is always Fiorentina that comes close to scoring, at 51′, with a dangerous free kick by Fagioli defused by Nicolas. Pisa’s retort is in Meister’s counterattack at 54′, stopped in extremis by Ranieri, but especially in the action at 65′ in which Dodô comes close to an own goal, in an attempt to anticipate the very Danish striker. Hiljemark tried everything in the last 20 minutes, inserting Cuadrado and Piccinini for Touré and Moreo.

On the other hand, Vanoli&#8217s changes all come from 78′ onwards: Fazzini, Comuzzo, Piccoli and Fabbian play the last remnants of the game in place of Solomon, Dodô, Kean and Fagioli. Pisa tried right with Cuadrado at’80’ but the ball ended up not far from the post. Although the intensity remains high, the 1-0 lead endures until the triple whistle: for Fiorentina it is a key success in terms of salvation, but the road to avoid the worst remains long. Pisa, on the other hand, still remains winless in 2026 (the only success being against Cremonese last Nov. 7) and seems now headed for the toughest verdict.
