Lindsey Vonn has finally returned home just over two weeks after her terrible fall in the downhill at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. The U.S. champion, already injured in one knee before the race, fell badly, breaking her left leg in several places. After spending 10 days at the Treviso hospital, where she underwent five surgeries, the 41-year-old ski star returned to the United States, where she underwent another surgery before returning home.

On Instagram, the star athlete unveiled shocking details about her serious injury, far worse than first reported: the trauma caused by the accident gave her a compartment syndrome in her leg, which could lead to permanent injury and the subsequent amputation of the limb.

“When one suffers such severe trauma to one area of the body the blood pools and gets blocked, basically crushing everything. Dr. Tom Hackett performed a fasciotomy and was able to save my leg”, Vonn explained.
