Franco Morbidelli has no doubts about the'evolution of his Ducati

After a 2025 World Championship made up of ups and downs and concluded a bit’ on the wane, Franco Morbidelli is ready to renew his challenge in MotoGp, still as part of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, the partnership founded by Morbidelli’s own mentor, Valentino Rossi. The Italian-Brazilian will be riding a Ducati with a Desmosedici GP24 chassis but with several components from the GP25: a sort of hybrid aimed at putting the best qualities of the bikes of the past two years on the track.

“I am very happy to start the season again and doing it in Thailand will be good – Morbidelli told official team channels -. Here we finished winter testing, where we understood many things about the new bike. Overall, the preseason was very positive and I am ready for the start of 2026. We feel competitive for this first race weekend, we can have our chance. We have shown that we are fast, we are there”.

“The goal will be to confirm the good feelings from the tests over the weekend as well. We are ready” then concluded the Rome-born rider 31 years ago, ready to start his season number 9 in MotoGp. Arriving to the premier class in 2018, after winning the Moto2 World Championship the year before, Morbidelli had his best year among the ‘bigs’ in 2020, finishing second in the World Championship behind Joan Mir. He then experienced difficult seasons at Yamaha before moving to Ducati, where he returned to the Top 10 overall in 2024 and 2025.

In the past season, Morbidelli finished on the podium three times: first in the long races in Argentina and Qatar, then in the Sprint race in Argentina’Hungary, finishing third on all three occasions. In the Grand Prix of Thailand, the opening round of the season in 2025 as well, he finished fifth in the short race on Saturday and fourth in the long race on Sunday, coming within three seconds of the third place finish, which was taken on that occasion by Pecco Bagnaia.
