Two days after regaining a one-set disadvantage to Sriram Balaji and Neil Oberleitner, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori repeated in the quarterfinals of the Dubai ATP tournament, overcoming Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl in a super tie-break, won not without difficulty. The two Azzurri thus clinched a place in the semifinals, where they will face on Friday Salvadoran Marcelo Arevalo and Croatian Mate Pavic, both veterans of the professional circuit.

Against the two Czech tennis players, Bolelli and Vavassori lost a very balanced first fraction (no break until 6-6), recovered an early double disadvantage in the tie-break but at 4-4 suffered a three-point-zero partial break that put the opposing pair ahead. Decidedly more favorable the’trend of the second set, balanced this time until 2-2 before Bolelli and Vavassori take off winning four consecutive games to play it all out in the super tie-break.

Caroline Daur was spotted in the stands in Melbourne to support Alexander Zverev during the match.

Caro describes herself as a'self-made entrepreneur and globally successful actress.
Daur boasts over 4.5 million followers on Instagram with a vast international network.
The 30-year-old from Hamburg has appeared in major magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Elle.
He produced for Amazon Prime 'Dinner Club' and the Netflix movie 'She Said Yes'.
Daur collaborated with legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh for international campaigns.

She has appeared on the covers of iconic magazines such as Vogue and Elle globally.

She founded the brand 'Daurpower' and launched her personal fitness program.
Zverev until recently was linked to Sophia Thomalla, Loris Karius’s ex.
Her style, definitely recognizable, looks very different from Daur’s.

Zverev beat the fearsome U.S. in four sets at the Australian Open.

In the final game, whose goal is to get to ten first, it is back-and-forth until 6-6 between the two doubles: from there, however, comes a partial four points to two for Bolelli and Vavassori, who thus complete the comeback and qualify for the semifinals of the Dubai tournament, an ATP 500 that Bolelli won on one’other occasion with another doubles partner, Andreas Seppi, in 2016.

Bolelli and Vavassori are looking, in the UAE, for their ninth victory as a pair on the major circuit: they have already won a tournament in 2026, confirming themselves as champions in Rotterdam in the final last Feb. 12 against Taiwanese Ray Ho and German Hendrik Jebens, a match that ended with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Previously, the two Azzurri won in Buenos Aires, Halle and Beijing in 2024 and Adelaide, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Washington in 2025. Also not to be forgotten is the presence of the two in the Italian team that last November confirmed victory in the Davis Cup for the third consecutive year, although the doubles was not played in either the quarterfinals against Austria, the semifinals against Belgium or the finals against Spain.
