Valentino Rossi, what a shame: must raise the white flag in Misano
Valentino Rossi ended the first sprint race at the track near his home with a retirement
Unlucky Saturday in Misano for Valentino Rossi, engaged in the first Sprint race of the sixth round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe. The Doctor, driving the WRT team’s Audi, started from 16th place on the grid.
Valentino climbed up to thirteenth position, but before returning to the pits for the pit stop and driver change, he came into contact with a Mercedes ahead of him, damaging his car.
Teammate Frederic Vervisch, who entered in his place, had to retire shortly afterwards and explained what happened as follows, “We don’t know precisely yet, probably the damage happened because of contact with another car that happened earlier. The car was not going well and I was forced to return to the pits.” Valentino will try to make up for it tomorrow afternoon at the second sprint practice.
