The U.S. Open will take place from August 29 to September 11, and, for the time being, Novak Djokovic is not expected to be part of the New York party. In fact, not vaccinated against Covid-19, the Serb does not meet the conditions required by the U.S. government for foreign nationals to enter the territory.
A situation that deeply annoys his fans and has led them to launch an online petition at change.org.
“At this stage of the pandemic, there is no reason not to allow Djokovic to play at the US Open. The U.S. government and the USTA (American Tennis Federation) must work hand in hand to allow him to play. MAKE IT POSSIBLE, USTA! ” read the preamble to this petition.
