Juric doesn’t mince words ahead of Sassuolo

Torino coach Ivan Juric, spoke in the press conference on the eve of the match against Sassuolo, valid for the seventh day of the Serie A championship.

“The numbers looking at the players’ history are those, there is a bit of a lack. To improve this aspect my players have to go further. Looking at the statistics of goals in the past it is clear the difficulty of scoring, losing even players who score goals from behind,” explained the former Hellas Verona coach.

Juric then introduced his opponent, Alessio Dionisi’s Sassuolo: “Tomorrow I expect a very difficult match, Sassuolo made a pharaonic market and they are strong. Sassuolo has a lot of quality in dribbling, we have to be tough and trying to put them in trouble.”

“Already since last year, just against Sassuolo or Fiorentina, the team has made progress in the game. I wanted to give solidity and concreteness, then add the pieces: in the second half of last season, the performances satisfied me from an aesthetic point of view. Now, many players recognize certain situations and what they have to do and are able to express themselves. My regret, as in Verona, is what would have happened with last year’s team with two more pieces — that’s my regret. Then it depends on who you get, Vlasic came in here and he is a player who makes you leap forward, hopefully he will continue that. Everyone else is insertion, bring them higher, but it leads you to not being competitive at the highest level. We are expressing game, the team has to remain tough and humble, trying for everyone to touch their maximum,” concluded the Croatian coach.
