Vettel warns Alonso

Sebastian Vettel, Aston Martin driver close to retirement from Formula 1, gave an interview to the official website of the British racing team.

The four-time world champion first analyzed the still ongoing season: “There was a great opportunity this year with the regulatory changes, but we fell into the same trap as many others. Some were probably a little luckier, designing a car with a ride height that worked better. Now we have these rules until 2026, so the teams that had a good start will have an advantage over those that had a bad start.”

The German driver then issued a warning to his “successor” at Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso: “Having the budget cap means you can’t throw money and resources at the problem to catch up.”

It was Sebastian Vettel who was the first driver to win a world championship with Red Bull. The German put everyone in line for four years in a row, from 2010 to 2013. The Austrian stable returned to success in 2021 thanks to Dutchman Max Verstappen, with the son of art repeating the following year. If there was a battle to the last in 2021, that was not the case in 2022.
