F1, Nico Hulkenberg wants to return: Haas and Antonio Giovinazzi warned
The former driver of Force India and Renault among others, wants to return
Nico Hulkenberg, currently Aston Martin’s reserve driver, interviewed on the Lissie Mackintosh Youtube channel, spoke about the possibility of a return to Formula 1, in the capacity of a starting driver.
“I travel less now, because I don’t do all the races, as I did in the past. I don’t go to every grand prix, but only those that are also important from a commercial point of view, where there are appointments with sponsors. I will also go to Austin, which is always a big event,” explained the 35-year-old German.
“Clearly if you’re not the starting driver you don’t have the pressure of the result nor the pressure of the media: it’s a bit more relaxing, of course, but there are periods where you miss the competition, the presence on the grid, the adrenaline of the Formula 1 race. In this period as a third driver I haven’t trained as intensively as I did before or at the beginning of my career, partly because you only come in in emergency situations to replace someone. But who knows, maybe there is an opportunity for 2023 or in the future, so recently I have again increased the intensity of training,” Hulkenberg explained, emphasizing his desire to make a return to Formula 1.
Also on notice are Haas, which has not yet pronounced itself on the possible confirmation of Mick Schumacher next season, but also Antonio Giovinazzi, who is among the papayas to replace the young German, born in 1999, if he is not confirmed.
