In the first round Passaro will face Mackenzie McDonald, his executioner already in Florence
There were as many as nine Italians entered in the cadet draw – the qualifying one – for access to the main draw of the ATP tournament in Naples: only one came out unscathed, Francesco Passaro, who in the decisive match folded Austrian Filip Misolic with a score of 0-6 6-3 6-2.
In the first round of the competition in the shadow of Vesuvius, the Perugia native will now face the American Mackenzie McDonald, who just beat him in the tournament in Florence with a score of 6-4 7-5.
Of the other Italians vying for a chance to enter the main draw, four had made it to the second qualifying round. Said of Passaro, Giulio Zeppieri was eliminated by Zhang with a score of 7-5 3-6 6-3, Raul Brancaccio was overtaken by Nicolas Jarry 6-2 6-4, while Croatian Borna Gojo prevailed over Stefano Napolitano in two sets: 6-3 6-4 was the outcome of the contest.
