NBA, Simone Fontecchio already has clear ideas
Simone Fontecchio is ready for his debut in a Jazz jersey
Simone Fontecchio indulged in an interview with “Il Messaggero” in which he talks about his expectations for his NBA debut with the Utah Jazz jersey.
The Italbasket small forward is quivering to begin his new adventure: “I’m super excited, super excited about this adventure. I’m looking forward to it. Utah’s final offer came on the last day. There had been negotiations before, but the offer itself came only on the last day, July 15.”
Basketball has always been a passion in his family: “Yes, my mother played 119 games on the national team and won two championships with Vicenza. Then there is also my brother Luca, four years older, who plays in B. They will be proud of me.”
Then the Jazz’s new acquisition explained his choice to play abroad in recent years, “Going to play outside, getting out of your comfort zone helps you take on a level of responsibility to yourself and to the team you play for which you probably don’t achieve for the home team. But there are Italians who are doing well in A, like Stefano Tonut. There is no perfect recipe.”
“The truth is that there has been no clicking,” the Italian basketball player continued. “It is a condition of responsibility and self-confidence that is gradually growing for different reasons and that lead to a growth of a player, of a person. One hardly realizes overnight, ‘Okay, now I can do this, before I couldn’t do this.’ It’s a combination of things.”
Finally, a thought about the upcoming season: “I hope to stay here as long as I can, to prove that I can be an NBA player. I’m not just passing through the league, I want to be here for a long time.”
