MotoGp, Valentino Rossi: Carmelo Ezpeleta spies on heir
Dorna boss Ezpeleta: “Thanks to Valentino Rossi, MotoGp is now a world phenomenon, we are not looking for his successors”
Dorna patron Carmelo Ezpeleta in an interview with Motosprint took stock of the first year of MotoGp without Valentino Rossi: “Valentino has been extremely important all these years, but the World Championship continues. Like after the goodbyes of a 15-time world champion like Giacomo Agostini, Mike Hailwood, the Americans, Mick Doohan. There are things you cannot control: age is among them.”
“Valentino Rossi has already stretched his career so much,” Ezpeleta continued, “it was good for us, but we knew that retirement was coming. He remains a unique figure, who before being a media phenomenon was a great rider, but we have to think about the World Championship.”
On the Doctor’s heir: “We are Dorna, and our mission is to make races. We are not looking for his heir, but for great riders. And thanks also to what Valentino has done, we have many.”
