Trento, Lele Molin regrets overtime
Against the London Lions, Varese’s overtime weighed in.
The spark between the 7DAYS EuroCup and Dolomiti Energia Trentino doesn’t really shoot: the bianconeri are outplayed by the London Lions 80-75 after 40′ in which they commanded operations but in which the hosts found more lucidity and concreteness in the final point-to-point. In fact, the exact opposite of the script of the Trentino success in Varese on Sunday night.
At the Copperbox Arena a balanced game was staged, in which the bianconeri, still orphaned of Ladurner and Udom, found in their percentages from the arc and in the solidity under the boards the ingredients to stay ahead for a good part of the challenge: this time, however, the drawn final was merciless against the bianconeri and London grabbed a historic success, the first of the English in the “modern” EuroCup.
Among the bianconeri the best in terms of points scored are Andrew Crawford, who on his 32nd birthday scores 17 points, Diego Flaccadori (17 also for him with a nice 5/8 from three) and Matteo Spagnolo, author of a second-half performance of 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Coach Molin commented the defeat this way: “London deserved to win, kudos to them: without three important players they played with more energy, with a level of intensity that we were unable to match particularly in the last quarter. The fatigue of the Varese overtime less than 48 hours ago was felt, we have to improve in many aspects, we will work. We committed too many turnovers and lost the thread in the end of the game.”
