F1, Max Verstappen against everyone: his opinion on the budget cap
The title is now already awarded, but the controversy will not die down.
Max Verstappen came to Austin with the certainty that he is already the 2022 Formula 1 world champion, and the start of the U.S. Grand Prix weekend was thus an opportunity to have his say on one of the hottest controversies of the moment. It is the issue of the budget cap, with Red Bull always in the crosshairs of other teams. And the Dutchman certainly didn’t mince words.
“This issue is about the team and the FIA, but in Red Bull we are firmly convinced that we have complied with every rule,” Verstappen said from Austin. “However, my job is something else, to always give my best on the track. And I also think we are doing very well, so our rivals are trying to hang on to anything in hopes of slowing us down.”
“That’s how Formula 1 works, it’s an environment where everyone is a little bit hypocritical. Compared to what’s going on, though, I’m calm. I think in Red Bull we just have to stay calm and keep working,” Verstappen cut short.
