F1, Red Bull triumph: special dedication by Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen dedicates victory and constructors’ championship to Dietrich Mateschitz
Success in the U.S. GP gave Red Bull another joy, that of winning the 2022 Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championship. Max Verstappen, winner in the race at the Austin circuit, wanted to dedicate the double triumph to Dietrich Mateschitz, founder of the Red Bull company who passed away at the age of 78 after a long illness.
“This victory is for Dietrich and for everything he did for us,” said Verstappen, interviewed on the sidelines of the awards ceremony. “Winning was the only thing we could and should have done. The mistake in the pit stop? It complicated my race but I gave everything to make a comeback and I succeeded.”
“We wanted to win the constructors’ title and I’m happy to have succeeded here,” Verstappen added. “With Hamilton there was a good battle, I’m happy with the final result. I dedicate it to Didi, it was crucial for the team, I wanted to win for him as well.”
