Italy does not want to let Paolo Banchero slip away, and Gianni Petrucci, in an interview granted to Repubblica, explained what his next move will be.

“I, the head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco and the general manager of the national team, Salvatore Trainotti, will travel to the United States to speak directly with the athlete,” said the number 1 of Italian basketball. “The last contacts were positive, but they go back four to five months ago with his father. We will talk with Paolo and the club, but we remain hopeful. From the bureaucratic point of view, Banchero’s situation is settled, he has an Italian passport and is quietly convocable. His words of love for Italy are pleasing and give us hope.”

The trip to America is scheduled for the end of November.
