MotoGp, Franco Morbidelli: Yamaha impatient, Lin Jarvis even tougher
Franco Morbidelli in the crosshairs after a season to forget
Franco Morbidelli reckons with a season to forget: the Yamaha centaur has finished only once in the top ten, in Indonesia, and scored just 36 points before the last race in Valencia. The comparison with Fabio Quartararo, still fighting for the MotoGp World Championship, is merciless.
Yamaha Racing CEO Lin Jarvis in an interview with Speedweek sank the blow: “This season has been very disappointing for both us and Franco. After the summer break we changed the way we worked but in the end it didn’t turn out as we hoped. We probably shouldn’t have had such high expectations.”
Morbidelli according to Jarvis has “a mental block. He lacks the confidence to ride a bike like the Yamaha aggressively. The hope is that a bike with more potential will help him next year. But we don’t know if it will be enough.” The Italian-Brazilian has been confirmed for 2023, but his future in the premier class is at great risk.
