Carlos Alcaraz, season over: farewell Turin Finals
Carlos Alcaraz injured
Bad news for Carlos Alcaraz, who announced his forfeit for Nitto ATP Finals in Turin for the Davis Cup Finals due to an abdominal tear: his season is over.
“After my withdrawal on Friday and after being evaluated by my medical team, unfortunately this is the result of my injury: the estimated recovery time is six weeks. It’s hard to miss these two such important events, but all I can do is be positive and focus on my recovery. Thank you for the support.”
Alcaraz thus ends his season with a record of 57-13. On Sept. 12, he became the youngest world No. 1 in the history of the Pepperstone ATP Rankings. The 19-year-old won five titles in 2022, including his first two ATP Masters 1000 wins (Miami and Madrid) and his first Grand Slam trophy at the US Open.
The Spaniard will be replaced at the Nitto ATP Finals by Taylor Fritz.
