Ducati centaur Pecco Bagnaia released in the Valencia post-race his first words as MotoGp world champion: “How does Bagnaia sound world champion? It sounds good, very good… it was great, it was the hardest race of my life.”
“My ambition was to finish in the top five, but I started to suffer a lot, and the most important thing is to have won the World Championship, is to have had a great day, I’m happy.” Bagnaia after celebrating on the track with the Academy boys, Ducati mechanics and Valentino Rossi’s mentor, was moved one more time in the pits when he hugged his family, including his grandparents.
Francesco, aka ‘Pecco,’ Bagnaia after winning the Moto2 world championship in 2018 with Sky Racing Team VR46, will make his MotoGp debut in 2019 riding the Ducati of Team Pramac Racing. In September 2020, he scored his first podium in the top MotoGP category at Misano. The following year he switched to the official Ducati team and finished the championship in second place, behind French Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo. In 2022 the rainbow triumph, the first Italian to achieve it with an Italian bike since Agostini.
