Serie B, Pippo Inzaghi returns to victory: Genoa beaten and hooked
Reggina – Genoa 2-1 in the cadet Monday night of the 12th day
After a jaw-dropping start to the season, Pippo Inzaghi’s Reggina, like the other surprises Bari and Ternana, had stalled in the last few days: only one point collected in the last three matches. In the big-match of the twelfth day, for the occasion played on Monday night, however, the amaranthos returned to victory, relaunching themselves with credibility in the standings.
At the ‘Granillo’ it ended 2-1 for the Calabrian eleven, who had to thank the ex of the day, Hernani, who coolly scored the second penalty awarded to Reggina. The first, on the 1-1 scoreline, had in fact been failed by Jeremy Menez, who had been hypnotized by red and blue goalkeeper Semper.
In the first half, however, it had been the hosts who had taken the lead in the 15th minute, through Canotto. The Ligurians had then evened the score with a header by Aramu in the 33rd minute. Towards the end of the first half the aforementioned mistake from the penalty spot by the Frenchman, before the penalty of the final 2-1 sealed by the Brazilian in the 54th minute.
With this victory, Reggina hooks right Genoa in second place at 22 points: Frosinone, first at 27, has launched its first real breakaway of the season in B.
