Haas driver Kevin Magnussen will start ahead of everyone in Saturday’s sprint race

A sensational result in rain-affected qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix: Haas driver Kevin Magnussen surprisingly took pole position with a time of 1:11.674, and will start on the front row in the Sprint Race alongside Max Verstappen on Saturday.

On the second row are George Russell’s Mercedes and Lando Norris’ McLaren, fifth Carlos Sainz (who will be penalized, however). New Ferrari-Leclerc mess: the Monegasque will only start from tenth position after starting Q3 on the wrong tires; he was the only one with intermediate tires.

The Ferrarista, also controversial on team radio, came out of his car dejectedly and was hugged by Mekies, who tried to console him.

Starting grid:

Magnussen
Verstappen
Russell
Norris
Sainz
Ocon
Alonso
Hamilton
Perez
Leclerc
Albon
Gasly
Vettel
Ricciardo
Stroll
Latifi
Zhou
Bottas
Tsunoda
Magnussen
