Toronto FC has in fact announced the farewell to soccer of the former Genoa captain, who will therefore not return to Italy, at least as a player.
“Toronto FC defender Domenico Criscito has announced that he will retire from professional soccer,” reads a note. The Italian national team defender ends a 19-year career that saw him play in Major League Soccer, the top divisions of Italy and Russia, as well as for the Italian national team. A left-handed defender, Criscito scored 51 goals in 554 appearances in major European competitions, including Serie A, Russian Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, FIFA World Cup and UEFA Nations League.”
