Olimpia Milano, Ettore Messina charts the way forward
The coach of the meneghini charts the course
Olimpia Milano coach Ettore Messina had his say on the momentum of the meneghini team, fresh from a loss to Zalgiris Kaunas, its fourth consecutive loss in the Euroleague and fifth in the last seven games played.
“We come from four consecutive defeats in the EuroLeague which, beyond extenuating circumstances, puts us in a position of debt to our ownership and our fans. This is not the time to talk, it’s just the time to work with our heads down, keep our position in the Serie A championship and play the best possible game tomorrow against Trieste, a team for which we have the utmost respect and which has recovered with merit from a difficult start to the season,” he said in the press conference on the eve of the challenge against Trieste, valid for the seventh day of the Lba championship.
Last season, Ettore Messina’s team came back to win the scudetto, shaking it off Virtus Segafredo Bologna. The red-and-whites, who had finished in second place in the regular season right behind Sergio Scariolo’s team, immediately brought the court factor to their side in the final series and never let the Felsinians catch them again. In the Euroleague, Sergio Rodriguez (who said goodbye to the Red Shoes in the summer to return to Spain) and his teammates were eliminated by Ergin Ataman’s Anadolu Efes, who would win the tournament for the second year in a row.
