F1, Williams announces new driver for 2023.
Sargeant will replace Latifi
On Monday, Nov. 21, Williams announced its new driver ahead of next season: it will be newcomer Logan Sargeant who will take the place of Nicholas Latifi at the wheel of the British single-seater.
“Williams Racing is pleased to confirm that Logan Sargeant will race for the team in the 2023 FIA Formula 1 World Championship,” reads the note released through official channels.
“The 21-year-old American scored enough points in the last Formula 2 race in Abu Dhabi to qualify for a Super License and was crowned rookie of the year after finishing his F2 season with Carlin in P4 with 148 points, two wins and two more podiums,” the statement explains.
“The Williams Academy driver completes the team’s lineup for the 2023 season along with Alex Albon and becomes the first U.S. driver to compete in Formula 1 since 2015,” the Williams note concludes.
