Reyer Venezia-Germani Brescia, Tucci calls out defense ahead of derby
De Raffaele’s deputy has his say ahead of EuroCup engagement
Having archived the two home games with Lietkabelis and Trento, Reyer Venezia is ready to face the Italian derby of round A with Germani Brescia: the two-game ball is scheduled at PalaLeonessa on Tuesday, November 29 at 8:30 pm. The orogranata come to the game with the fourth place in the standings the result of three consecutive wins after the two losses in the season opener, while the Lombardi boast a record of 2 wins and 3 losses, having lost their last game in Cluj.
There is a precedent between the two teams in the Eurocup: in the 2019/20 season Reyer and Brescia faced each other in the second phase of the competition, the top 16, and the orogranatas had won both games, obtaining qualification for the quarterfinals (never played due to the pandemic).
Gianluca Tucci spoke this way on the eve of the challenge: “We face Brescia, which is back from a very important championship win against Trieste, in which Della Valle, Petrucelli and Cournooh, the three starting outside players, scored a lot (53 points in total). They are the most complete players and will have to be limited in their individual initiatives with which they then trigger the athletic longs Odiase and Cobbins, as well as Gabriel’s outside shooting, which has often proved to be a determining factor. At the moment Brescia is one of the longest lineups in the Eurocup round, being able to count on the energy of Akele and Laquintana, the Massinburg shot, and very experienced players like Moss and Burns who are always ready to contribute. Finally, the very short ranking requires us to look match by match very carefully.”
