Reyer Venezia winning in sprint, coach De Raffaele swells chest
Umana Reyer Venezia- Germani Brescia 82-79
Umana Reyer returns to victory in the championship by bending with a final of great intensity a hostile Germani Brescia, hooked in the standings with the final 82-79. Last minutes of the game still fatal to the Lombardi who, as in a sort of replica of last Wednesday’s challenge in Lithuania, miss the decisive blow to finish the job when at Taliercio victory seemed really within reach. This was not so much for the 9-point maximum lead accumulated during the game (63-72 with 8′ to play), but for the inertia of the challenge, which at that moment was completely in the hands of the guests.
Reyer’s maximum effort, however, thwarted Germani’s sacrifices, which from the most propitious moment cashed in an overall partial of 19-7 and, suffering in the last period a bloody partial of 24-15, surrendered victory and two points to its opponents, who joined it in the standings at 10.
At the end of the game, Veneto coach Walter De Raffaele bestowed the honor of arms on the losers, emphasizing his team’s moment of growth: “Great game, high level, almost a Playoff game. In the last quarter we saw tough defense, good offense, congratulations to Brescia, which we knew was a good team. This victory gives us continuity three days after the match with Bursaspor, which we remember was a finalist last year,” the coach began.
“We are growing in atttudine, in equlibiri on the court, in addition to good three-point precentages, many assists and good defense. This is a victory in the sign of continuity, in the groove of growth on everyone’s part, synonymous with a group where everyone is going in the same direction. We must continue to let the facts speak for themselves,” he concluded.
