Ducati-Valentino Rossi: Pirro’s backstory arrives
Ducati tester Pirro: “I understood immediately why Valentino Rossi could not be competitive.”
Michele Pirro in an interview with Gpone.com looked back on his adventure in Ducati, dwelling on his beginnings: “The first Desmosedici I tested was the 2012 Desmosedici, the one from the Valentino Rossi era. When I tried it, I understood why Valentino failed to be competitive with Ducati in MotoGp: It was a bike you went into a corner with and didn’t know how you were going to come out.”
“The front tire did not transmit confidence and normal riders, in the sense of those who ride with the front like Rossi or Lorenzo, were struggling, while Stoner was riding with the rear coming from the dirt track,” continued the Borgo Panigale stable tester.
“Valentino couldn’t make the difference because you had to go beyond your instincts, but when you overdid it you would fall: so you would take half a step forward and two steps back and lack confidence.”
