Olimpia Milano, Fioretti still has no illusions
The words of Mario Fioretti
Mario Fioretti spoke in the press room in place of the injured Ettore Messina after the win against Monaco: “We started the game well on offense, then we suffered in rebounding and that’s what killed us in the first half. We did better in the second half, then our defense grew a lot in the fourth quarter, when we also started making baskets. They made a resounding effort, to get the win.”
“It’s an important win. From here to think it’s all right in one game is difficult. There are still a lot of things to do. A little step of improvement, also because we had three days to practice and try things.”
Last season, Ettore Messina’s team came back to win the Scudetto, shaking it off Virtus Segafredo Bologna. The red-and-whites, who had finished second right behind Sergio Scariolo’s team in the regular season, immediately brought the court factor to their side in the final series and never let the Felsinians catch them again. In the Euroleague, Sergio Rodriguez (who said goodbye to the Red Shoes in the summer to return to Spain) and his teammates were eliminated by Ergin Ataman’s Anadolu Efes, who would win the tournament for the second year in a row.
