F1, Williams fishes Mercedes for new team principal
Important news for Williams
Big news in Formula 1: Williams has announced its new team principal ahead of the 2023 season, which kicks off on March 5, and the name is that of a now former Mercedes. He is James Vowles, who has held the role of head of strategy at the German team since 2019, but has been working with the Brackley-based manufacturer since 2010.
“I am looking forward to my start with Williams Racing. It is an honor to join a team with such an established tradition in the Circus. The team is an icon of our sport, which I respect very much, and I am looking forward to the challenge before me. Mercedes has supported me tremendously in my journey, and we leave on very good terms after more than 20 years at Brackley. I am grateful for all that Toto Wolff and the team have taught me, and it has been a special experience to travel together through failures and successes. Williams Racing has placed its trust in me, and I will return that trust. Williams has enormous potential and our journey together will begin in a few weeks,” Vowles told the British team’s official channels, also expressing all his gratitude to Mercedes.
