Walter De Raffaele leaves Venice: exonerated by Reyer
The fourth league knockout in a row, resulting in a historic coaching change.
Walter De Raffaele is no longer the coach of Reyer Venezia. The orogranata have in fact announced his dismissal, which came after the home loss against Brindisi. In the three previous games had come as many knockouts, against Virtus Bologna, Trieste and Scafati.
“Umana Reyer announces that coach Walter De Raffaele has been relieved of his position as head coach,” reads the official note from the Venetian club. “The club thanks Walter for these thirteen years of success and wishes him the best of professional fortunes. The team has been temporarily entrusted to assistant coach Gianluca Tucci.”
Born in 1968, Walter De Raffaele arrived in Venice in 2011, serving over time as assistant coach to Andrea Mazzon, Zare Markovski, and Carlo Recalcati. Since 2016, he became Reyer’s head coach, putting the 2017 and 2019 Scudetti and 2020 Coppa Italia on the roster.
