Virtus Bologna, what a tegola for Sergio Scariolo
What a tile for Scariolo
Virtus Bologna is coming off an excellent period, given its streak of four consecutive wins between the league and Euroleague. However, there is also some bad news for Sergio Scariolo, who will have to do without Isaia Cordinier for quite some time, who was injured in the very last European engagement against his countrymen Asvel-Villeurbanne.
In fact, the French guard, in his second season in Emilia after arriving in the summer of 2021 from Nanterre 92, suffered a bad injury with partial plantar fascia injury in the Euroleague match played at Astroballe and in all likelihood will remain in the pits for a period of around two months. Scariolo’s hope, therefore, is to have his player at full strength by the beginning of April.
Last season, Virtus Bologna saw confirmation of the 2021 Scudetto win slip away only in the playoff final, lost 4-2 to Olimpia Milano. The highlight of the Felsinians’ year, however, came on May 11, with the conquest of the Eurocup, won in the final against the Turkish Bursaspor. This success gave Scariolo’s men a pass for the 2022-23 Euroleague season, a competition the Bolognese had not participated in for 14 years.
