Final 8, Sandro Gamba bets on Olimpia.
Sandro Gamba’s words
Sandro Gamba spoke to Repubblica-Milano on the opening day of the Italian Cup Final Eight.
“This is an opportunity for Olimpia to show that the group built at the beginning of the year was not so bad, and to confirm the progress of the last few weeks. It is no coincidence that, after a full week of work and ten practices done properly, the best league game of the last month has come. I see a tidier team, clearer ideas, much less uncertainty. It may be the arrival of Napier, it may be that the players know each other better, the fact is that Olimpia is clearing its mind of the dross of Euroleague, its catalog of technical and tactical concepts, and is finally gaining continuity and consistency.”
Last season, Ettore Messina’s team came back to win the Scudetto, shaking it off Virtus Segafredo Bologna. The Biancorossi, who had finished second right behind Sergio Scariolo’s team in the regular season, immediately brought the court factor to their side in the final series and never let the Felsinians catch them again. In the Euroleague, Sergio Rodriguez (who said goodbye to the Red Shoes in the summer to return to Spain) and his teammates were eliminated by Ergin Ataman’s Anadolu Efes, who would win the tournament for the second year in a row.
