A presentation to the public square with some messages already clear.

Paulo Sousa takes office on the Salernitana bench and does not skirt around the concepts he wants to impose on the team in the post-David Nicola era. Also making clarity on the role of starting goalkeeper, which appears at the moment still disputed between Memo Ochoa and Luigi Sepe.

“In just one week you cannot change the behavior of a team,” Sousa premised, “But more than numbers, ideas and concepts count. Nicola comes from a year of work, and every idea can be a winner. I, however, have my own, and they are different. I will ask the team to be short, intense, mentally strong. We must insist on pressing and the desire to recover the ball, control the game, make possession. It’s very difficult to ask that against an opponent like Lazio, but now we have to put aside the recent past.”

“Salernitana has one of the best roses in Serie A with regard to attack,” Sousa noted. “I already see the desire to improve the construction of the team, and we will have to do this to feed the game for our attackers. I will try to do this without dispersing the good that has been done, the form is relative.”

Then the chapter regarding Ochoa and Sepe. “I have spoken with both of them, and they will both have to be available. Their characteristics are different, I will decide from time to time after seeing them during the week. It will also depend on the match strategy. At the moment a permanent starter is not there, clear that Memo left his family to move to another country. He wants to contribute, and that is obvious. This stimulates young people and undoubtedly sets an example for everyone,” Sousa concluded.
