Luge: Fischnaller triumph 12 years after Zoeggeler
Italy returns to the throne of the World Cup
Dominik Fischnaller wins the overall luge World Cup: twelve years after legend Armin Zoeggeler, the athlete from Bressanone won the crystal ball at the very last race of the season in Winterberg, Germany.
Fischnaller succeeded in the feat by finishing in fifth place, ahead of his number one rival, Germany’s Felix Loch, who was sixth just 36 thousandths behind Azzurro.
Dominik Fischnaller thus became the first Italian to win the World Cup after Paul Hildgartner, Ernst Haspinger, Norbert Huber and Armin Zoeggeler.
