Paulo Sousa raises the bar: “We are far away.”
“One win is not enough to be good.”
Arriving in place of Davide Nicola, who was exonerated by President Danilo Iervolino after an essentially month-long tug-of-war, Paulo Sousa picked up the first three points of his adventure at the helm of Salernitana thanks to a convincing win at the Arechi against Monza.
“I think we are still far from what we can do, one win is not enough to be good,” the former Fiorentina coach began at DAZN microphones. “Today we played against a mature team that created difficulties for us. Positive things came out, but defensively it was a difficult match. We expended energy but after Coulibaly’s great goal the team grew in confidence and conviction expressing their ideas,” continued the Lusitanian coach.
“Those who entered gave rhythm and intensity and on the tactical level we did well showing great understanding between those who played and those who were out. Playing like this we will be able to save ourselves, taking the project forward. I am very satisfied, today we were close to what we had prepared,” he concluded.
