Lecce fans protest, Sticchi Damiani disagrees

Lecce, Sticchi Damiani no pun intended: “The team should be encouraged for their commitment.”

During an interview with the “Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia,” Lecce president Saverio Sticchi Damiani commented on the team’s momentum and the restraint on the part of the fans in the latest home outings.

“I felt it was right and proper to thank the players for their commitment. We were coming from a period when we were struggling to even get a shot on goal, this time we managed to find more rhythm and produce several goal balls, which is a very encouraging sign in terms of salvation,” said the Salentini president.

“I have great respect for everyone. Everyone is free to contest the performance although for me the result is not the only parameter of judgment. Contestation is part of the rights of the fans, however, I do not feel I can reproach the boys for anything, which I would have done if there had been a lack of commitment,” Sticchi Damiani added.
