Olimpia Milan attacks: ‘Shocked by refereeing meter’
Olimpia general manager Stavropoulos doesn’t mince words after game-4 against Virtus
Controversy erupts after the hard-fought game-4 of the Scudetto finals series between Virtus Bologna and Olimpia Milano: the general manager of the meneghini Christos Stavropoulos sharply criticized the referees. “We are shocked by the refereeing meter, and by two suspicious calls against Shavon Shields: first the step infraction then the fifth foul,” are the words reported by pianetabasket.
“Our best player was on the court 44′ and could only shoot 2 free throws. We want to be respected.” Virtus won after two overtimes and tied the series at 2-2.
Next Monday it’s back to the Assago Forum for Game 5 of the series that will award the 2022/2023 Scudetto.
Last season, Ettore Messina’s team returned to win the scudetto, snatching it from Virtus Segafredo Bologna’s jerseys. The Biancorossi, who had finished in second place right behind Sergio Scariolo’s team in the regular season, immediately brought the court factor to their side in the final series and never let the Felsinians catch them again.
