Scudetto finals: Virtus crushes Milan in last quarter, goes to game-7

At the Segafredo Arena, Virtus Segafredo Bologna clearly won 85-66 in game-6 of the Scudetto Finals against EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, taking the lead in the last quarter with an 18-7 partial run and thus cancelling the championship point to Olimpia, which, however, will be able to play the “bella,” the decisive game-7 on Friday on the friendly parquet of the Mediolanum Forum.

For Sergio Scariolo’s team 14 points with 4 out of 6 from three for an unstoppable Marco Belinelli, 13 for Daniel Hackett (with 7 assists) and Isaia Cordinier, for Ettore Messina’s team 11 by Nicolò Melli and Johannes Voigtmann.

First quarter with rather cheerful defenses for being a potential decisive game for the awarding of the scudetto, especially for Virtus, which from 20-15 suffers a partial of 12-3 with an incredible triple on the siren by Voigtmann from three quarters of the court that seals the 27-23 of the first ten minutes in favor of Olimpia.

The second quarter opened with a counter-partial also of 12-3 in favor of the Vere Nere who even got to +8 at 45-37 and went to halftime ahead 49-43. The hosts’ lead at the beginning of the third quarter expands to +10 but it gets to +8 for Segafredo at the beginning of the last quarter.

Incredibly, the score remains stationary for the first 3’54” of the decisive partial until two free throws out of three scored by Cordinier for a foul by Datome who immediately after commits the fifth and obviously has to come out. Then an unsportsmanlike conduct by Napier with one out of two from the lunette by Hackett and subsequent triple by Belinelli inflict the decisive blow to Milan and from that moment the game is practically over.
