Van der Sar: relief after latest bulletin
Positive news coming out of the Netherlands for former Ajax, Juventus and Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar, who suffered a brain hemorrhage while on vacation in Split, Croatia, on Friday, July 7.
Ajax through an official note made it known that the former goalkeeper is not in life-threatening danger and is able to communicate with his family: “Update on Edwin Van der Sar from his wife Annemarie (July 15): Edwin was repatriated from Croatia on Friday evening and is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a Dutch hospital.”
“His situation remains the same: stable, not life-threatening and communicative. The Van der Sar family would like to express their deep gratitude to the ‘University Hospital of Split’ for the great care given during the last week.”
“Edwin remains in the intensive care unit where he will be further investigated, and the family fervently hopes that he will be able to focus on his recovery thereafter,” reads the note from the Dutch company. Van der Sar, 52, had just resigned as general manager of Ajax.
