ATP Ranking: Carlos Alcaraz increasingly in history, Jannik Sinner moves closer to Nitto ATP Finals
The Wimbledon tournament has definitively enshrined Carlos Alcaraz, who has become one of the youngest players to win the prestigious London tournament. Thanks to his success at the Championship’s the Murcia native has confirmed himself as world number one, entering even more history as the player with the most weeks spent at the top of the rankings (already 29 for him) at the age of 20. Rounding out the podium are Novak Djokovic and Danil Medvedev.
As for the Italians, Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti are confirmed in eighth and 16th place, respectively. Important leap forward for Matteo Berrettini and Matteo Arnaldi. The former, thanks to the Wimbledon round of 16, has moved considerably closer to the Top 30, becoming world number 32, while the latter, thanks to his access to the main draw, climbs six places to 75th in the rankings.
For the Italian number one, however, the good news comes on the Atp Race front, since, the semifinal he reached in the London tournament, allowed the South Tyrolean player to gain two positions in the race to the Nitto ATP Finals moving up to fifth place tied on points with Stefanos Tsitsipas (3,175).
The other Italians in the top 200 are Lorenzo Sonego (42), Marco Cecchinato (95), Giulio Zeppieri (117), Fabio Fognini (128), Andrea Vavassori (133), Franco Agamenone (143), Raul Brancaccio (144), Luca Nardi (147), Flavio Cobolli (148), Francesco Passaro (156), Mattia Bellucci (173) and Riccardo Bonadio (189).
