Jannik Sinner recounts the turning point that brought him to the top of world tennis

The magical period of Jannik Sinner’s career continues, ahead of his participation in the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, with his recent triumph in Miami and the achievement of the second position in the world ranking, a goal that never before any Italian tennis player had managed to cut before him, neither at the men’s nor at the women’s level.

The turning point, according to Sinner himself, was not forè a success but a defeat, the one at the US Open 2023 against Sascha Zverev: "It's been a difficult moment for me, from a psychological point of view,” said the South Tyrolean champion interviewed by 'Vogue Italia', “because I felt that I was getting closer to the goal'

"From that moment, I started working on myself. What exactly did I work on? On the psychological part. It's easy to say about someone that è psychologically strong, but inside I thought 'I'm strong psychologically, but I think I need to improve'. And so I started to accept my mistakes. And I tried to work on these little things, which at some point can make a difference".

Since then Sinner has racked up a string of legendary successes: è in fact, he was a finalist at the ATP Finals in Turin, starred with the other Azzurri in the Davis Cup victory, and in 2024 won the Australian Open, ATP Rotterdam, and Miami Masters 1000. The next step è confirm the state of grace also on clay, starting with Monte Carlo.
