Charles Leclerc does not give up: “Demoralized? No, our time will come.”
The results remain disappointing, but the motivation remains.
Charles Leclerc did not go beyond seventh place at the Hungarian Grand Prix, despite the good hopes that Ferrari had for the trip to Budapest. The Monegasque driver spoke clearly about this at the end of the race, explaining, however, that discouragement has not taken over on his part and that, on the contrary, the goal of reviving the Cavallino is stronger than ever.
“Unfortunately, we have the simulations on our car,” Leclerc explained to ‘Sky Sport,’ comparing Ferrari’s expectations that were disappointed in Hungary. “We know we are a little better on tracks with these characteristics, but we don’t have the simulations of the others. Evidently so they found themselves even better. We have to work really hard on the sensitivity of this car, because when it’s windy it becomes really very difficult to handle.”
“I know I’m repeating myself, but I keep saying that we have to work as hard as we can,” Leclerc insisted. “We’ve already been doing that since the beginning of the season, but the first part of the championship for us was really very difficult. However, we keep working relentlessly, and I’m sure it will pay off at some point.”
When confronted with the question of whether he feels demoralized, the Ferrari driver then answered in very clear words. “No. Thank you for asking me this question, because I will give absolutely everything until the last race. I answer little to the team because unfortunately we have so many radio problems, I don’t know if you can understand on TV but you can hear every fourth word. Anyway, every aspect of my race strategy was clear, so there was not so much discussion with the race wall for that. But the motivation is there, 200 percent. Unfortunately for now we don’t have the car to prove it or do special things. We have to be patient, our time will come because of our work,” assured Leclerc.
