F1, Vasseur freewheeling, including on Leclerc’s future
So many problems for the Red but Vasseur is optimistic for the future
At the moment, it’s a decidedly uphill season for Ferrari. So many troubles and only two podium finishes this season (both with Leclerc). As if that were not enough, there are questions about the future, hoping that it can be positive for the people of the Cavallino.
“We can’t talk about goals and deadlines, except by saying, we have to develop all those little things that contribute to the performance of the car. The fans, the journalists, the sponsors would like to know when we will return to winning: to give a precise answer would be silly. I would be wasting my time if I lambasted myself thinking about where Red Bull is and where we are. Let’s just focus on ourselves, and that’s it,” the Red Bull team principal’s words to Corriere dello Sport.
Vasseur also dwells on Ferrari’s drivers and responds to those who think Leclerc should be the “first driver”: “I started this job twenty-five years ago thinking that two drivers should be given the same support, and I’m not going to change. All the teams move in this way, with the exception of Red Bull with Verstappen and Perez…. Will they be there in 2025? Why not, but we’ll start talking toward the end of the season and both of them know it well-I told them as soon as I arrived. Today the only priority is to develop the car,” Vasseur’s closing remark, called for a quick redemption after a first season at the Cavallino that, for now, is certainly not exciting.
