Roma, a poker to greet Portugal
Farense-Roma 2-4
Roma says goodbye to Portugal by beating Sporting Club Farense 4-2 in the last friendly played in the Algarve before returning to the capital: star of the match Andrea Belotti, author of the first two goals of a match already in the bag after 45 minutes.
The Gallo unblocked the match in the 3rd minute (Artur Jorge’s deflection before the ball entered the net), repeating himself in the 32nd minute; Lorenzo Pellegrini’s was the Giallorossi’s third goal, just before halftime. Slower rhythms in the second half, conditioned by substitutions: in the 67th minute an own goal by Kristensen seemed likely to reopen the match but another own goal, by Gonçalo Silva, closed it in the 90th minute. Maxuel Silva’s marker in the midst of the recovery was useless, ending 2-4.
Roma lined up with Rui Patricio in goal, Mancini, Llorente and Ibanez in defense, Celik, Bove, Cristante, Pellegrini, Spinazzola in midfield, El Shaarawy and Belotti in attack. In the second half there was also room for back-up goalkeepers Svilar and Boer, as well as Kristensen, Dybala, Aouar, Smalling, Karsdorp, Pagano, Zalewski and Ndicka.
Roma will play its next friendly on Sunday, August 6, in Toulouse, against the local team that won the last French Cup. Next August 20, however, will be the first official match, the opening day of Serie A in which the Giallorossi will face Salernitana at home.
