MotoGp, Fabio Quartararo sends a clear message to Yamaha

After yet another bad weekend at Silverstone that saw Yamaha slip to last place in the Constructors’ World Championship, Fabio Quartararo, at the microphones of “Autosport.com,” spoke bluntly about his future at the Iwata-based manufacturer, as his contract will expire in 2024 and the possibility of his staying would be anything but a foregone conclusion.

“In the Misano test I want to have concrete evidence. They have a month. Yamaha promised me things for three years in a 10-page PDF document. Nine and a half of those finota have not been kept,” the French centaur began.

“I am very attached to Yamaha because it is the brand that brought me to MotoGp and allowed me to win the world title in 2021. I have full confidence in them and I gave them a chance, but there will not be a second one. If the improvements don’t come I will definitely have to think about something else,” added Fabio Quartararo.

After six titles won by Valentino Rossi in eight years it was the Spanish riders who took the lion’s share of the MotoGp world championship. From 2012 to 2020 only they won, with Jorge Lorenzo a two-time world champion, Marc Marquez (6) and Joan Mir, triumphant in 2020 with his Suzuki. In 2021, it was Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) who became world champion, while in 2022, in his second year with Ducati, it was Pecco Bagnaia who clinched his first world title in MotoGp, at the end of a spectacular comeback over the reigning French champion rider.
