Jannik Sinner looks forward to blue tennis
Jannik Sinner’s statements after the victory over Berrettini
After winning the first derby of Italy against Matteo Berrettini, Jannik Sinner, during the post-match press conference, wanted to analyze his performance. In addition, the South Tyrolean addressed the future of Italian tennis.
“Playing against Matteo was very hard because we know each other very well. I just tried to play my tennis, although there was not much rhythm because he served well. Every break ball in his service turns is important and I managed to win some of them in some way,” the South Tyrolean tennis player began.
“In the end I closed on 6-3 but I was under pressure a couple of times. From 0-30 I tried to hang on to the serve somehow. It was not an easy debut,” added the Italian number one.
“It is never easy to face an Italian, but I always tried to enter the court as if it was a normal match. I think there will be a lot of derbies in the future because Italy has very good young people and a lot of academies run with good coaches,” Jannik Sinner commented on the future of Italian tennis.
In the round of 16, the Italian number one will face Andy Murray, who has already eliminated Lorenzo Sonego in the opener.
