After the elimination of Camila Giorgi, forced to retire against Canadian Rebecca Marino on the score of 4-6 6-4 3-0 in favor of the latter, Italian women’s tennis redeems itself in the Cincinnati WTA 1000 qualifiers.
In fact, both Jasmine Paolini and Martina Trevisan pulled off the pass for the main draw, beating Colombian Camila Osorio, world number 67, and U.S. Taylor Townsend, world number 122, respectively.
Paolini defeated Osorio with a double 7-5 after nearly two hours of play, while Trevisan overcame Townsend with a score of 6-4 4-6 7-5 at the end of a two-and-a-half hour battle.
The two azzurre join Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the main draw, who is engaged in the opener with U.S. former Us Open champion Sloane Stephens.
