Roberto Mancini, mom: “He never got over Vialli’s death.”

Roberto Mancini’s sudden farewell to the national team is making soccer debate. The former technical commissioner’s mother, Mrs. Marianna, had this to say about her son’s decision, “We talk often if that’s why, but we never talked about the national team, with him we never talk about his work. That has always been our relationship.”

“All we care about is that he is well. He is a very honest and generous person, she knows that. Roberto is a good person,” are the words to the National Newspaper.

“Roberto has a big heart. He never really got over Gianluca Vialli’s death. He was very close to him. In Gianluca’s place they decided to put someone else, but I don’t even remember who it is. They made the decision a few days ago, if I’m not mistaken.” Gianluigi Buffon is the chosen one as the new team manager.

On the future: “I have no idea, I will call him and talk to him as I always have. If he wants Roberto will explain to me why he made this decision and we as parents will always be close to him. This will always be his home.”
