Italy beats Brazil in friendly match
Italy beat Brazil 93-87 in a friendly in China, the penultimate test ahead of its debut at the 2023 Basketball World Cup.
Italy’s top scorer was Simone Fontecchio with 26 points. Also in double figures were Stefano Tonut (16 points), Marco Spissu (11 and 7 assists), Giampaolo Ricci and Achille Polonara (11).
In Shenzhen, coach Gianmarco Pozzecco’s Azzurri will face New Zealand tomorrow for the second game of the Solidarity Cup.
Italbasket’s World Cup debut is scheduled for next Friday, Aug. 25, at the Philippine Arena in Manila against Angola.
